Jaguars Add Four for 2021-22 Season

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta University head softball coach Melissa Brocato has signed four new freshmen student-athletes in the National Letter of Intent (NLI) early signing period The Jaguars picked up Grace Bridges, Magdalyn McBrayer, Kali Garrett, and Victoria Pinner  who can compete in the 2021-22 season.

"We are very excited about this class of 2021!  We're getting a little bit of everything with this class; speed, power, solid defense, pitching, leadership and excellent academics. These four ladies represent many wins, state championships, all-region awards and so much more. We are thrilled to have Grace, Kali, Maggie and Tori as part of the Jaguar family. We anticipate great things from them!"

Name: Grace Bridges

Year: Freshman

Position: OF/MI

Hometown: Augusta, Ga

Previous School: Briarwood Academy


Bridges comes to Augusta from Briarwood Academy in Warrenton, Ga. She was named 2017 Honorable Mention and All Region in 2018, 2019 and 2020.  Bridges was also named All State in 2019 and 2020. She lettered in softball, basketball, track, and cheerleading while at Briarwood


Name: Magdalyn McBrayer

Year: Freshman

Position: Pitcher

Hometown: Calhoun, Ga

Previous School: Calhoun High School


Magdalyn attends Calhoun High School in Calhoun, Ga. She was named All-Region and All-State freshman. While at Calhoun, she broke records for both wins and strikeouts in a single game. McBrayer helped lead her team to a GHSA state championship and remained a member of the National Honor Society. She lettered in basketball and softball at Calhoun and played club ball for the Vipers in the Atlanta, Ga.


Name: Kali Garrett

Year: Freshman

Position: Catcher

Hometown: Appling, Ga

Previous School: Harlem HS


Garrett will join the Jags from Harlem High School in Harlem, Ga. Garrett was named Region Player of the Year in 2018 and 2019. She also helped lead her team to the Region Championship in 2017. Garrett lettered in both basketball and softball while in high school.


Name: Victoria Pinner

Year: Freshman

Position: CF

Hometown: North Augusta, SC

Previous School: North Augusta High School


Pinner is an incoming freshman from North Augusta, SC. She was played under Coach Craig Gilstrap and was named team MVP and All-Region. Pinner remained on the honor roll woth at North Augusta High School.
