Taylor Cards Second Win in Blazer Invitational

BIRMINGHAM, AL – Sophomore newcomer Mackenzie Taylor won her second meet in a row to lead the Augusta University Women's Cross Country Squad at the UAB Blazer Invitational. The Leesburg, Ga native ran a 6k time of 20:10.08, beating the next runner by almost 10 seconds.

Miranda Taylor took 37th place with a time of 24:11.84. Jaelen Alexander and Madison Congdon finished just behind her with times of 24:38.89 and 24:53.26 respectively. Hailey Gilbert finished her 6k in 25:32.75. Michaela Polk rounded out the Jaguar women's squad for the day.

Mackenzie Taylor has had a stellar start to her career with Augusta. She was named Peach Belt Runner of the Week after winning the Koala XC Invitational and setting a school record in the process. Taylor crushed the 6k course in a time of 20:36.2, besting the previous school mark of 21:03.6 set by Micah Weathers in the NCAA Regional last year

 

Both AU Cross Country squads see their next competition in two weeks at the North Georgia Invite in Gainesville, Georgia on October 31st.
