Augusta Takes Sixth at the Southeast Regionals

Wingate, N.C. - The Augusta University Women's Cross Country team took 6th place at the 2019 NCAA Southeast Regional meet this morning! In the field of 26 competing schools, Queens claimed the Regional Championship, with Flagler finishing in second and Wingate coming in third. These teams receive an automatic bid to move on to the National Championships with their top three finishes. Anderson took fourth place in the meet while North Georgia rounded out the top five in fifth.

Micah Weathers continues to prove she is a runner to be reckoned with as she took third place overall for the meet. Her time of 21:42.9 was less than a minute behind the lead in the 6K race. Miranda Taylor had the next best finish for Augusta, landing in the top 25 for individuals with a time of 23:09.5 and a 23rd place finish. Mckenzie Knudsen finished in 26th place only a few seconds back of Taylor at 23:12.4. Sinead O'Bryant took 59th place at the meet with a 24:16.2 showing, while Rachel Hammesfahr came in for the Jags in 61st place at 24:20.9. Madison Congdon ran the course in 24:32.9 to secure a 68th place finish, and Jaelen Alexander took 78th in the field of 181 runners with a time of 24:51.2.

The Jaguars will wait to see if they will secure one of the 10 at-large bids to advance to the NCAA National Championships in Sacramento, California, or to see if individually they can claim one of the 24 open slots for the meet on November 23rd.
