Micah Weathers Makes School History as Jags Finish Third at PBC Championships

Pembroke, N.C. - The Augusta University Women's Cross Country team competed in the Peach Belt Championships today. The team finished third overall, but Micah Weather did something no other Jaguar, men's or women's team, had done before by taking home the individual crown for the meet. Weathers blew away her competition finishing with a time of 18:03.22, 45 seconds faster than her closest competitor.

Coach Adam Ward had nothing but praise for the junior standout and his team, "…she never ceases to amaze me and her will to succeed. She has an amazing faith and it spills over into her running. She led our women to a strong 3rd place. They ran very well and I am proud of their effort. Onward to regionals."

Mckenzie Knudsen earned a top 10 finish on the day as well, finishing in eighth place for the meet, with Miranda Taylor right behind her in ninth. Sinead O'Bryant finished 29th overall, while Madison Congdon finished 32nd to round out the scoring for Augusta. Rachel Hammesfahr and Jaelen Alexander were the last to Jags to finish, coming in 35th and 36th place.

Flagler took home the championship with a score of 40, followed closely by North Georgia who finished as the runner-up with a score of 49.

As Coach Ward said, the Jaguars will be "onward to regionals" at the NCAA Southeast Regional on November 9th in Wingate, N.C.
