Jaguars Voted Fourth In PBC Preseason Coaches Poll

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University women's cross country team was picked to finish fourth in the 2019 Peach Belt Conference Preseason Coaches Poll. The poll of the league's head coaches was released on Monday from the league office in Augusta, Ga.

 

North Georgia earned seven first-place votes and were picked first with 107 total votes. Flagler was second (94), Columbus State third (92), the Jaguars received 83 total votes for fourth place, and Georgia College grabbed fifth with 80. UNC Pembroke, Clayton State, Georgia Southwestern, Young Harris, Francis Marion, Lander, and USC Aiken rounded out the poll.

 

Augusta was ranked No. 10 in the NCAA Southeast Region last season and recorded three top-five finishes, while finishing top 10 all season. The Jaguars placed fifth at the conference championships last year and had two named All-Conference and one All-Region.

 

The 2019 women's cross country season will feature all 12 conference members, becoming the only sport other than men's and women's basketball in which all league members participate. USC Aiken and Young Harris have returned their teams to competition starting this year.
