Jags Take 10th At NCAA Southeast Regionals

OAKWOOD, Ga. – The Augusta University women's cross country team raced the NCAA Southeast Regional Saturday morning on the campus of the University of North Georgia and finished in 10th place with 280 points. AU junior McKenzie Knudsen earned all-region honors for finishing inside the top 25 individually.

 

 

Queens took home the team title with 50 points, Flagler grabbed second with 98 points, and Anderson notched third with 129 points for the top-three teams out of 23. The top three teams from each regional meet automatically advanced to the championship finals for a total of 24 teams. The top two individuals not on a qualifying team also advanced for a total of 16.

 

Augusta's women's squad was seated 10th in the most recent NCAA regional rankings. AU entered the race with all top-10 finishes on the season, including three top-five finishes. Knudsen was named All-Region for the second straight season and paced the Jaguars again in 21st (23:31.97). AU's Lara Way ended in 34th with a time of 24:04.64 and sophomore Miranda Taylor earned 53rd in 24:43.49.

 

Also placing for the Jaguars: Junior Sinead O'Bryant (82nd, 25:32.35), Junior Helen Rendich (93rd, 25:55.60), Junior Rachel Hammesfahr (99th, 26:08.09), and freshman Madison Congdon (109th, 26:25.71). The competition marks the final for Augusta in the 2018 season.
