AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta University women's cross country freshman Micah Weathers was named the Peach Belt Conference Runner of the Week after winning the Jaguar Cross Country Challenge on Sept. 9. The Peach Belt announced the award from their league offices in Augusta, Ga., Tuesday Thursday afternoon.

The Jaguars swept the weekly Peach Belt honors, as Augusta men's cross country junior Daniel Broadhead was also named the ROTW.

Weathers won the Jaguar Cross Country Invitational on Saturday for her first career win in her second career race. The freshman from Statham, Ga., ran the 5k course in 18:58.07, 32 seconds ahead of teammate Lara Way in second. Weathers has been the top Jaguar finisher in both of her races so far this season and her time of 18:58 is the third-fastest 5k run in the league so far this season. Her efforts helped the Jaguars to the team championship at the event.

Augusta heads to the Wingate Bulldog Stampede in Wingate, N.C., Sept. 23 for the next race of 2017.
