Augusta Cross Country Starts Season Sept. 1 At Eye Opener Invitational

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Augusta University men's and women's cross country programs begin the 2017 season on Friday, Sept. 1 at the Eye Opener Invitational, hosted by USC Upstate in Spartanburg, S.C.

 

 

Hosted by the USC Upstate Spartans at Milliken Research Park, the 2017 Eye Opener features a men's 8K at 6:00 p.m., followed by the women's 5K at 6:30 p.m.

 

The Milliken Research Park, located adjacent to the USC Upstate campus, has played host to the annual Eye Opener Meet, the Upstate Invite, the 2010 Atlantic Sun Conference Championships, the 1995 NCAA Division II National Championships, the 1999 NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Championships, the 2010 Junior College National Championships and the 2006 CVAC Championships.

 

The Milliken Research Park and its scenic 660-acre campus is the site of the global headquarters of Milliken & Company, will be host to the Spartans during many of their practices as well as the annual Eye Opener, one of the largest collegiate and scholastic races in South Carolina.

 

The Augusta Jaguars women's team was picked to finish second in the Peach Belt Conference preseason poll and the men's were voted third.
