Jaguars Ready To Run

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta State women's and men's cross country programs get their respective seasons underway this weekend in Memphis, Tenn.

The Jaguars compete Saturday night in the 10th annual Brooks Memphis Twilight Classic, hosted by Christian Brothers University at the Mike Rose Soccer Complex. The women's squad will begin its 5K race at 9:40 p.m. (EDT), with the men's (4-mile) race to follow at 10:20 p.m.

The men's race will feature 23 teams, including 11 Division I programs, and the women's race will showcase 25 teams and 10 Division I programs. For more information on Saturday's races, visit http://alltraxtiming.homestead.com/Twilite_entry2012.html.

The ASU women's squad was picked to finish second in the Peach Belt Conference preseason coaches poll, while the ASU men's team was selected as the favorite in a preseason vote of the league's coaches.

Both programs are being led by Adam Ward, a five-time Peach Belt Conference Coach of the Year selection. Entering his ninth season at the helm of the ASU Cross Country programs, Ward has guided the Lady Jags to six straight NCAA Regional appearances and led the men's squad to the 2011 conference championship in just the second season since the program's reinstatement.
