CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Augusta State's women
finished 13th and the Jaguar men's squad finished 18th Friday
afternoon in the Royal Cross Country Challenge hosted by Queens
University at McAlpine Park.
In the 5K women's race, sophomore Holly Keeper led all Lady
Jaguars and posted the best ASU finish (23rd) among both teams with
a time of 18:34.4. Fellow sophomore Claudia Nunez-Lopez was 44th at
18:52.9. Lyndsay Nichols was 94th (19:48.4), Alicia Connolly took
106th (20:07.7) and Ivori Sneed finished 111th (20:16.6). Savannah
Sutton and Angela Woodward were 115th and 116th, respectively, with
efforts of 20:24.2 and 20:25.8, while Celia Kresser posted a
20:40.5 and took 123rd position.
Freshman Dustin Ross paced ASU in the men's 8K race, crossing
the line at 26:26 for 73rd place, just ahead of Clay Holton, who
was 76th with an effort of 26:28.4. Robert Blackwelder was 135th
(27:22.1), Simon Hoyden was 152nd ( 27;40.4) and Joey Castillo was
165th (28:01.5).
Matthew Johnson posted a time of 28:06.9 and was 107th, Shane
Huckeba was 176th at 28:28.3 and Adam Aldridge was 181st at
28:32.7.
ASU hosts Montevallo and Georgia College in a tri-meet on Saturday,
Oct. 23 in Augusta.
