AUGUSTA, Ga.
– The Augusta State men's and women's cross
country squads open their respective seasons Friday afternoon when
the Jaguars compete in a dual meet with Georgia College & State
in Milledgeville, Ga.
The Jaguar men's squad, picked to finish fifth in the Peach
Belt Conference, is in its first season under head coach Adam Ward
after the reinstatement of the men's cross country program
last summer. The Jags will be competing for the first time since
2002.
The Lady Jaguar program, tabbed second in the PBC preseason poll,
is beginning its seventh season under Ward. The Lady Jags return
all but two letterwinners from last season's squad that
posted five top-five finishes, including a victory in their season
opener. ASU finished fifth at both the PBC Championships and NCAA
Southeast Regional.
The men's and women's cross country teams return to
action on Saturday, Sept. 25 at the USCA Pacer Invitational in
Aiken, S.C., and head to the Greater Louisville Classic a week
later in Louisville, Ky.
ASU hosts the annual Jaguar Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 9 at
Blanchard Woods Park in Evans, Ga.
