Jaguars Fall in Five at Lander

Greenwood, S.C. – The Augusta University Volleyball team lost a tough contest to the Lander University Bearcats 3-2 (10-25, 25-21, 20-25, 26-24, 10-15). Augusta now moves to 16-5 on the season and are 1-1 in Peach belt play. Lander improves to 3-1 in conference action and 14-6 overall.

Nicolette Ramos led the Jags in kills with 13 on the day, while also hitting for .167, another team high. Madison Malloch picked up 11 kills for the match for second overall. Payton Murchie totaled a team high 34 assists tonight and also earned nine digs, just shy of a double-double.

Defensively, the Jags saw Holland Martin lead the squad with 29 digs, while Chloe Allen picked up 16 in the match.

Ramos was the only member of the group to pick up a double-double, earning 10 digs to go with her kill total.

Overall, Augusta hit .081 as a team, while earning 63 points on 46 kills and nine service aces.

The Jaguars return to action tomorrow when they battle the USC Aiken Pacers in Aiken, S.C. at 2:00 p.m.
