Jags Volleyball Signs Three For 2019

AUGUSTA, Ga. – After just finishing the 2018 season with a conference championship and another NCAA Tournament appearance, Augusta University head volleyball coach Sharon Quarles announced the addition of new freshmen signees Nedu Evans, Julieanne Saliba, and Hanna Siefert. All three signed a National Letter of Intent (NLI) in the early signing period and will compete for the Jaguars in 2019 season.

 

Name: Nedu Evans

Year: Freshman

Position: Middle Hitter

Height: 5-9

Hometown / Previous School: Cartersville, Ga. / Cartersville High School

 

"Nedu is a middle attacker who has a huge jump," Quarles said. "She is an agile middle that has a great way of working between the pins. In addition, a middle who also can take swings on the outside."

 

HIGH SCHOOL: Attended Cartersville High School in Cartersville, Ga. … Lettered in volleyball under Coach Dutch Cothran … Was named Region MVP, Team MVP, and Player of the Year … Also played club for North Atlantic Volleyball Center in Atlanta, Ga. under Coach Steve Wilcosky … Named MVP.

 

PERSONAL: Born on Dec. 22, 2000 in Marietta, Ga. … Daughter of Rita Evans … Has three siblings … Plans on majoring in biology.

 

Name: Julieanne Saliba

Year: Freshman

Position: Libero / Defensive Specialist

Height: 4-10

Hometown / Previous School: Buford, Ga. / Buford High School

 

"Julieanne has great foot speed and gets a quick jump on balls," Quarles said. "She is a solid passer as well as defender that is going to strengthen the backcourt."

 

HIGH SCHOOL: Attended Buford High School in Buford, Ga., since 2011 … Plans to graduate in 2019 … Lettered in volleyball under coach Crystal Beach … Named first team All-Region and All-Country … Received the Coaches Award … Gwinnett County Super 6 … Runner-up for the BHS State Champion … Club 2 AAU National Champions in 2017 and 2018.

 

PERSONAL: Born in Orlando, Fla., on Sept. 6, 2000 … Daughter to Craig and Suzanne Saliba … Sister to Brooke and Jarett Saliba … Plans on studying early childhood education … Played club ball for Prolink Volleyball in Cumming, Ga., under coach Michael Carter … Named an All-Star and All-Tournament player.

 

Name: Hanna Siefert

Year: Freshman

Position: Outside Hitter

Height: 6-1

Hometown / Previous School: Holly Springs, Ga. / Creekview High School

 

"Hanna a solid 6'1 pin hitter that can take some big swings and put up a solid block," Quarles said. "Looking forward to her providing additional options on the front row for us in the 2019 season."

 

HIGH SCHOOL: Attended Creekview High School in Canton, Ga., for all four years and graduated in 2019 … Lettered in volleyball under coaches Taylor Neph and Jessica Estes … 2018 first team All-County and first team All-Area … Three state playoff appearances and a Final Four appearance her senior season … 2018 Best Offensive Player … Finished senior season with 362 kills as the team captain … Received the Coaches Award in 2017 … Named second team All-Area as a sophomore and junior … Scholar Athlete Award … Lamp of Knowledge AP Scholar Award … Academic Letter.
