LEXINGTON, Ky. – Augusta University volleyball senior McKenzey Beck was named a 2018 All-Region selection by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) for the second straight season, while Augusta sophomore Chloe Allen picked up an honorable mention.
The All-Region team is comprised of 15 student-athletes and six were named honorable mention.
Beck, a two-year star for the Jaguars from Phoenix, Arizona, was also a first-team Peach Belt All-Conference selection and she named the Peach Belt Conference Tournament MVP. Beck earned the award for PBC Specialist of the Week on Oct. 9 and Oct. 16 this season. She posted 10 triple-doubles on the season to tie for the second most in all of NCAA Division II. Beck started all 32 matches for the Jaguars for a total of 109 sets played and was second on the team in kills, assists, and digs.
A sophomore from Richmond Hill, Ga., Allen was a second team All-PBC selection and also was named to the PBC All-Academic team. She started all 32 matches for the Jaguars for a total of 103 sets played and was second in the conference for block assists (91) and third for total blocks (107). Allen also paced the team in solo blocks.
The pair helped Augusta win the PBC Tournament Championship for the first time in school history. The 2018 Jaguars were ranked as high No. 2 in the NCAA Southeast Region and reached the NCAA Tournament for the second time ever.
