Augusta Advances To PBC Semifinals With 3-0 Win Over Francis Marion

GREENWOOD, S.C. – The Augusta University volleyball team made its 28th appearance all-time in the Peach Belt Conference Tournament and faced off against the Francis Marion Patriots in the 2018 quarterfinal match. Augusta won in three straight sets to advance to the semifinal match against host and second-seeded Lander at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday evening.

 

 

Augusta (22-7) swept the regular-season meetings against Francis Marion (13-15) and dealt the Pats their third loss with a three-set win. AU won 25-16, 25-21, and 25-11.

 

Jags senior McKenzey Beck had another triple-double with 13 kills, 18 assists, and 10 digs, while senior Savanna Gonzales added nine kills and four digs. Junior Cheryke Brian-Garmos posted 20 assists and sophomore Holland Martin picked up 13 digs for Augusta.

 

The single-elimination tournament is being held in the Finis Horne Arena on the campus of Lander University in Greenwood, S.C. The championship match is slated for Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
