Augusta Takes Down Queens In Final Regular Season Home Match

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University volleyball team took a brief break from conference play on Tuesday night to host the University of Queens and Augusta won 3-1 in Christenberry Fieldhouse.

 

The Jaguars are now 21-5 with the win, while Queens went to 12-14 with the match.

 

Augusta let Queens enjoy a 4-0 run to start the night, but went on a 7-0 run of their own to take the lead in set one. After several tied scores, Augusta trailed 24-21 until they came alive to take a 25-24 lead and win an eventual 32-30 first set. The Jaguars took care of set two 25-20, but fell in the next 26-24. Regaining composure, AU won the next 25-18 to win the night.

 

AU senior McKenzey Beck booked her sixth triple-double on the year with 14 kills, 16 assists, and 17 digs. Sophomore Alyssa Frazier posted 11 kills and senior Savanna Gonzales added 10 kills and 17 digs. Junior setter Cheryke Brian-Garmos posted 31 assists and 17 digs for the Jags and sophomore libero Holland Martin picked up 39 digs.

 

Peach Belt Conference play powers on this weekend as Augusta plays at USC Aiken on Friday, Nov. 2 at 7:00 p.m. and at Lander on Saturday, Nov. 3 at 2:00 p.m.
