Augusta Slams UNC Pembroke On Senior Day For 13th Shutout Win Of The Season

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University volleyball team hosted the UNC Pembroke Braves on Saturday afternoon for its final Peach Belt Conference home match of the season. The Jaguars swept the Braves for their 13th victory of the season by a score 3-0.

 

Augusta moved to 20-5 overall and 6-3 in the league, while UNCP went to 9-18 and 0-9 in the Peach Belt. The Jags celebrated 2018 Senior Day and recognized the careers of seniors McKenzey Beck, Blair Bolton, Nathalia Gouveia, and Savanna Gonzales in a pre-match ceremony.

 

Set one went to the Jags 25-17, before the team won 25-13 and 25-9. Augusta hit .420 as a team and held UNCP to a .018 attack percentage. Gonzales posted nine kills, Beck booked eight kills, 10 assists, and six digs, junior Jessica Hedrick and sophomore Chloe Allen added sox kills each, while Bolton and sophomore Alyssa Frazier chipped in five kills each.

 

Jags junior Cheryke Brian-Garmos delivered 16 assists and 10 digs, while sophomore libero turned in 10 digs and five assists.

 

Augusta hosts Queens on Tuesday, Oct. 30 for the final home match of the 2018 season at 6:00 p.m. in Christenberry Fieldhouse.
