Augusta Wins At Flagler, 3-1

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The Augusta University volleyball team completed the regular-seasons sweep of the Flagler Saints with a 3-1 Peach Belt Conference victory on Saturday afternoon.

 

The conference contest moved Augusta to 18-5 overall and 5-3 in the league, while Flagler is now 10-12 and 4-4 in the Peach Belt. The Jaguars started strong with a 25-22 set-one win. Flagler responded in the next set to win 25-19, but Augusta took the next two 27-25 and 28-26 to win in extra-point fashion.

 

Carding her fifth triple-double of the season, AU senior McKenzey Beck posted 14 kills, 22 assists, and 10 digs, while senior outside hitter Savanna Gonzales gave the team 11 kills and eight digs. Junior Jessica Hedrick and sophomore Chloe Allen each added nine kills for Augusta, with Hedrick contributing six assisted blocks and Allen two aces and three solo blocks. Junior setter Cheryke Brian-Garmos posted a team-high 24 assists for the Jags and added three aces and three digs.

 

The annual Augusta University volleyball Pink Out match to raise awareness and support for the Georgia Cancer Center will take place on Friday, Oct. 26 for the Jaguars' home match in Christenberry Fieldhouse against the Francis Marion Patriots at 7:00 p.m.

 

The Jags will celebrate 2018 Senior Day on Saturday, Oct. 27 during its Peach Belt Conference match against UNC Pembroke at 12:00 p.m. in Christenberry Fieldhouse. The Jaguars will recognize and celebrate the careers of seniors McKenzey Beck, Blair Bolton, Nathalia Gouveia, and Savanna Gonzales in a pre-match ceremony.
