Jaguars Outplayed By Bobcats In 3-0 Loss

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University volleyball team lost a Peach Belt Conference match in three straight sets against Georgia College on Tuesday night in Christenberry Fieldhouse.

 

The PBC contest moved AU to 17-5 overall and 4-3 in the league, while GC is now 11-8 and 3-3 in the Peach Belt.

 

Set one was a tightly contested battle with GC pulling it out 25-20. The Bobcats grabbed the second set 25-19 and swept the final by a score of 25-18.

 

Augusta freshman Victoria Wade and junior Jessica Hedrick led the team with seven kills each, while sophomore libero Holland Martin posted 22 digs. Senior Nathalia Gouveia dug 12 shots with two aces and an assist and junior Cheryke Brian-Garmos gave the Jaguars 15 assists and eight digs.

 

The offense was off for Augusta as they posted a .034 attack percentage – their worst of the season. Georgia College, who completed the regular-season sweep of the Jags, had a .197 attack percentage and blocked eight shots.

 

The Jaguars play at Flagler College in St. Augustine, Fla., for a Peach Belt Conference match on Saturday, Oct. 20 at 2:00 p.m.

 

The annual Augusta University volleyball Pink Out match to raise awareness and support for the Georgia Cancer Center will take place on Friday, Oct. 26 for the Jaguars' home match in Christenberry Fieldhouse against the Francis Marion Patriots at 7:00 p.m.
