AUGUSTA, Ga. – With a victory on Friday, Sept. 21 against Flagler College, Augusta University head volleyball coach Sharon Quarles surpassed 400 career wins as a college coach. Quarles has coached at four different institutions since the 1997 season and has been in Augusta for the last 10 seasons.

"It's exciting in the fact that it's happening now, especially with this team," Quarles said. "To be doing so well each and every match and getting better, to have those wins come now is a landmark moment. It's memorable. When it's against Flagler too, it makes me smile that much more. We've only beat them once in the last 10 years. To do it in a year where the team has really gelled and we're playing well, it's one of those things you are not going to forget."

Now in her 10th season at the helm of the Jaguar Volleyball program, Quarles has taken a losing volleyball team into the NCAA postseason and to conference and regional recognition. Quarles, who was named the eighth head coach in school history on April 23, 2009 by Augusta University Director of Athletics Clint Bryant, is 14-3 this season and has 12 regular-season matches remaining.

The 400th win came on Sept. 21 when the Jaguars swept the Flagler Saints 3-0 in Christenberry Fieldhouse. Flagler was picked to win the league in the preseason coaches poll, but AU proved too much as Quarles grabbed the career accolade.
