Augusta Rolls Past Emmanuel, 3-1

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University volleyball team hosted Emmanuel College on Tuesday night for a non-conference match and won 3-1 in Christenberry Fieldhouse for its third straight victory.

 

The match moved AU to 14-3 on the season, while the Emmanuel Lions are now 10-8. The Jaguars are now 9-1 at home in the 'Berry. Junior

 

Senior McKenzey Beck posted her third triple-double of the season with 25 assists, 12 digs, and 10 kills, while senior Savanna Gonzales recorded 11 kills, five digs, and one assist. Junior Jessica Hedrick and sophomore Chloe Allen each had nine kills and Cheryke Brian-Garmos gave AU 17 assists and 10 digs

 

Set one was point-for-point to an 8-8 score. AU took a slight lead, but EC tied it at 14-all again. Down to the wire, the Jags battled to get within one, but the Lions scratched out a 25-23 victory. Augusta responded with a 25-18 win to even the match and won set two 25-17 and set three 25-20.

 

Peach Belt Conference play continues this week as Lander visits the Jags on Friday, Oct. 5 for a 7:00 p.m. match and USC Aiken comes to town Saturday, Oct. 6 for a 2:00 p.m. first serve. The Wounded Warrior Project will be in attendance on Oct. 6 to cheer on the Jags.
