CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Augusta University seniors McKenzey Beck and Savanna Gonzales were named to the 2018 Queens Fall Classic All-Tournament Team after competing in the event August 31-September 1 in Charlotte, N.C. Following a vote conducted by the eight head coaches this weekend, the All-Tournament team was announced on Sunday afternoon.
The two-day event featured teams from four different conferences across the Southeast Region, including Anderson University (S.C.), Queens, and Wingate University from the South Atlantic Conference, Augusta University and Georgia College from the Peach Belt Conference, Barton College and Converse College from Conference Carolinas and Winston-Salem State University from the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association.
In total, seven student-athletes are featured on the all-tournament team which includes Rachel Alles of Wingate University, McKenzy Beck of Augusta University, Emily Conlin of Anderson University, Kaytlin Elkins of Barton College, Savanna Gonzales of Augusta University, Taylor Svehla of Georgia College and Casey Tarvin of Queens University of Charlotte.
Beck (Phoenix Ariz.), a senior setter and outside hitter, was an integral part in leading Augusta to a 3-1 record during the tournament. On the outside, Beck averaged 2.31 kills per set with a .272 hitting percentage. She also chipped in 3.54 assists and 2.92 digs per set to go along with four service aces.
Gonzales (Kennesaw, Ga.), a senior outside hitter, was the Jaguars top offensive threat. She averaged 2.69 kills per set and registered 2.00 digs per set as well as five service aces. Gonzales recorded 35 kills and 26 digs on the weekend.
