Augusta Volleyball Wins 3-0 At Francis Marion

FLORENCE, S.C. – The Augusta University women's volleyball team played its second Peach Belt Conference match in two days on Saturday afternoon and took down Francis Marion 3-0 on the road.

 

The match moved the Jaguars to 14-10 on the year and 5-3 in the PBC. The Jags swept the weekend after they beat UNC Pembroke on Friday night 3-1. Francis Marion moved to 7-14 overall and 2-6 in the conference.

 

Augusta won 25-20, 25-21, and 25-19 over the Patriots to avenge an early-season loss at home.

 

Augusta had an even attacking scheme with one only one player reaching double-digit kills, but four who had at least eight. Junior Blair Bolton led the team with 10 kills, junior Savanna Gonzales had nine kills, and junior McKenzey Beck and freshman Chloe Allen each had eight. Allen added two blocks and Beck two aces while Bolton and Gonzales each blocked a shot.

 

AU's Payton Murchie led the team with 22 assists, Beck had 18, and freshman Holland Martin put up 17 digs.

 

Georgia Garrison led FMU with 10 kills and Shelbi Meek carded six.

 

The annual Augusta University women's volleyball Pink Out match to raise awareness and support for the Georgia Cancer Center will take place on Monday, Oct. 23 for the Jaguars' home match in Christenberry Fieldhouse against the Limestone Saints at 7:00 p.m.
