AUGUSTA, Ga. – Standing at 10-5 on the season and 3-2 in the Peach Belt Conference, the Augusta University women's volleyball team heads across the Savannah River to battle rival USC Aiken on Friday, Oct. 6 in the Convocation Center for the team's second Peach Belt Conference away match. The rivalry meeting begins a stretch of nine road matches for the Jaguars.
Augusta plays at USCA in Aiken, S.C., on Oct. 6 and at Queens in Charlotte, N.C., on Oct. 10. The team heads to the Regional Crossover tournament back in Aiken, S.C. from Oct. 13-14 where they take on Tusculum, Mars Hill, Lincoln Memorial, and Carson-Newman for a non-conference event.
After a trip to Newberry (Oct. 17), UNC Pembroke (Oct. 20), and Francis Marion (Oct. 21), Augusta returns home to Christenberry Fieldhouse.
Augusta currently sits tied for third in the PBC standings and leads the league in kills, total attacks, assists, digs, blocks, and points. Junior-transfer and two-time PBC Player of the Week winner, McKenzey Beck, leads Augusta and the Peach Belt in kills and points, sits second in aces, and is sixth in assists.
Freshman libero Holland Martin sits atop the PBC in digs, while rookie Chloe Allen is third blocks. Junior Savanna Gonzales ranks fourth in kills and fifth in points, sophomore setter Payton Murchie is fifth in assists, and sophomore Jessica Hedrick has the fifth best hitting percentage in the league and the fourth most blocks.
