AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University women's volleyball team posted a 3-0 win over Erskine Monday evening in a non-conference contest at Christenberry Fieldhouse.

The Jaguars are now 10-4 on the season while the Flying Fleet fall to 1-11.

Augusta was paced by McKenzey Beck's 11 kills. Jessica Hedrick hammered home eight kills while hitting .727. Savanna Gonzales added seven kills while Natalia Gouveia chipped in five.

Payton Murchie dished out 20 assists and Beck's 11 allowed her to register a double-double.

Defensively, Holland Martin accounted for nine digs. At the net, Bolton had seven blocks while Hedrick had five.

As a team, the Jaguars hit .348. The squad totaled 40 kills against nine errors on 89 attacks.

The first frame was a back-and-forth affair. Head coach Sharon Quarles' team took a 6-3 edge after a service error by the visitors. However, the Flying Fleet came back to take an early lead, 8-7. Beck tied the frame at 8-8 on a kill, but neither squad could take more than a two-point lead the remainder of the set.

Trailing 15-14, Chloe Allen slammed home a kill to even the score. The visitors would end up taking a 22-20 lead before Gouveia hammered home a point to make it 22-21. Down 23-21, Allen and Gouveia teamed up for a block. An attack error by Erskine knotted the contest at 23-23. Tied at 24-24, Allen registered a kill and Gouveia served up an ace to win the set, 26-24.

In the second stanza, Quarles' squad jumped out to a 3-0 advantage thanks in part to a trio of aces by Gouveia. The Jaguars extended their lead to 10-3 as an error concluded a 4-0 run. Augusta pushed the margin to 10 on a block by Beck and Alyssa Frazier, making it 16-6. The team cruised to a 25-11 win as Gouveia ended the set with a kill.

Leading 6-5 in the third set, Hedrick and Bolton tallied back-to-back kills for an 8-5 edge. Tied at 9-9, Beck and Gonzales accounted for kills, making it 11-9. Up by one at 11-10, the Jaguars embarked on a 4-0 run for a 15-10 margin, forcing a time-out from the visitors.

After a point by the Flying Fleet, Augusta extended its advantage to eight at 19-11 thanks in part to an ace from Beck and a block from a trio of Jaguars. Quarles' squad registered an ace from Hedrick to make it a 24-15 contest before a kill from Bolton ended the match.

The Jaguars return to action Friday, Sept. 29, when they host the Saints of Flagler. First serve is slated for 7 p.m. Live stats and video will be available at AugustaJags.com.
