Jags Volleyball Signs Five Freshmen For 2017

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University women's volleyball team announced the signing of five new freshman in the National Letter of Intent (NLI) early signing period on Wednesday afternoon. Head coach Sharon Quarles gained freshmen Chloe Allen, Alyssa Frazier, Rachel Hill, Holland Martin, and Shea O'Farrell

Chloe Allen will graduate from Richmond Hill High School in Richmond Hill, Ga., in 2017. As a senior in 2016, Allen was named the Region 6A Defensive Player of the Year and the Most Outstanding Athlete for RHHS. She was named first team All-Region as a senior and junior and led the team in kills in 2015. She plans on going into pre-medicine.

 

Alyssa Frazier attended Aiken High School in close by Aiken, S.C., and plans to graduate in 2017. Frazier was named an All-Star and an All-Region selection as a senior in 2016 and she was named Region Player of the Year and All-State in 2015. She helped Aiken win a Class AAAA State Championship during her time. Frazier plans on pursuing a nursing degree.

 

Rachel Hill attended Calvary Day School in Savannah, Ga., and will graduate in 2017. Hill helped her team win the 2016 and 2015 Class A State Championship. The defensive specialist was named a National Honor Society member and ranked No. 8 in her class academically. Hill plans on studying biology. 

 

Holland Martin is also a defensive specialist and will graduate from The Walker School in Woodstock, Ga., in 2017. Martin lettered in all four years of volleyball and made the All-Area team all four years. Martin made the All-State team as a junior and senior. She plans on studying biology.

 

Shea O'Farrell is a 6-2 freshman from Suwannee, Ga., who will graduate from North Gwinnett High School in 2017. In 2016, O'Farrell earned All-Area and All-County accolades and she was named an All-County Scholar Athlete since 2015. Also a North Gwinnett High School Scholar Athlete from 2013 to 2016, O'Farrell helped her squad reach the elite eight in 2016. She plans on studying biology and minoring in physics.
