Augusta Honors 2016 Seniors During PBC Match With Flagler

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University women's volleyball team celebrated 2016 Senior Day on Saturday afternoon during the Peach Belt Conference match with Flagler College in Christenberry Fieldhouse. The Jaguars fell 3-1 in a match with 33 tied scores and 15 lead changes.

Augusta University Athletics celebrated seniors JaNhea Beisner, Jordan Bickett, Catherine DeSilvester, Bria Mays, and Rachel Windle in a pre-match ceremony. Flowers were also presented to the seniors from Flagler College!

 

Coming off a leg injury, Bria Mays saw action in set one and delivered a kill on her first attack attempt in the opening set. Mays, Bickett, and Windle all had kills to open scoring for the day. The Jags stole a 22-21 lead on a kill from Bickett, but Flagler rallied back for a 23-22 advantage in set one.

 

The first set score was tied 14 times and there were eight lead changes. The Saints sealed a 25-22 win in set two, but Augusta answered with a 25-19 set-three victory to make the match 2-1.

 

The deficit never grew beyond seven points in the match, but the Saints held on and won 3-1 with a 25-18 set three win. Augusta senior Jordan Bickett had 14 kills and 14 digs, Windle and freshman Jessica Hedrick each had nine kills, and sophomore Blair Bolton booked eight kills, two digs, and three blocks.

 

Sara Davis led Flagler with 13 kills and Megan Hooks and Genel Sturgeon each had 11.

 

Flagler entered the match ranked third in the NCAA Southeast Region and second in the PBC standings.

 

Hurricane Matthew washed out the originally scheduled match at Flagler on Saturday, Oct. 8 in St. Augustine, Fla. The teams will meet on Sunday, Oct. 13 for a 7:00 p.m. PBC match in Flagler to wrap the regular season. 

 

The Jaguars host their final match of the regular season on Wednesday, Nov. 9 against Columbus State at 7:00 p.m.
