Augusta Hosts Lander For Pink Out Night To Support Georgia Cancer Center

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Celebrating their annual Pink Out match to raise awareness and support for the Georgia Cancer Center at Augusta University, the Augusta Jaguars dropped a 3-0 Peach Belt Conference match to the Lander Bearcats on Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m.

The Jaguars helped raise over $1,500 to the Georgia Cancer Center and presented a check prior to the match while honoring breast cancer survivors.

The Jaguars (11-8, 5-3 PBC) wore their brand new pink jerseys in support of the Georgia Cancer Center. Fans had the opportunity to make a solid donation or pledge an amount to donate per every Jaguar volleyball dig. For every dig the Jaguar volleyball team had in the match, money was donated directly back to the cancer center.

Lander (18-5, 6-4 PBC) stole the first two points of the match, but Jags senior Rachel Windle came up with a kill to put the Jags on the board. Lander sprinted to a large lead and eventually took the first two sets 25-18 and 25-13.

Having to win set three to extend the match, the Jaguars made the closest of the night but fell

Augusta is scheduled to play on the campus of Belmont Abbey in Belmont, N.C., to face Lees McRae and Belmont Abbey on Saturday, Oct. 22.
