Volleyball Marks Madilyn Sanderson For 2016 Season

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta University women's volleyball Head Coach Sharon Quarles announced the signing of junior-transfer Madilyn Sanderson on Monday. Sanderson is a junior-transfer from Florida State College at Jacksonville and signed with the Jaguars in the National Letter of Intent (NLI) early signing period.

NAME | Madilyn Sanderson

POSISTION | Middle Blocker

YEAR | Junior

HEIGHT | 6-1

HOMETOWN | Brisbane, Australia

PREVIOUS SCHOOL | Florida State College of Jacksonville

Madilyn "Maddy" Sanderson is an Australian native who played for Florida State College at Jacksonville. Last season as a sophomore at the junior college, Sanderson saw action in 28 of 29 matches. She led the team with 74 total blocks and was fourth in kills and points.

Sanderson averaged 1.44 kills per set as a starting middle blocker. She joins seven other new signees who compete for the Augusta Jaguars in the 2016 season.

"We are looking forward to adding Maddy to our roster in the fall," Quarles said. "She will definitely provide a physical presence in the middle position this year. The first thing that stood out, aside from her height and red hair, was her blocking ability. She moves quite well laterally across the net and is very fluid for a 6'1" middle blocker. Offensively, she is going to provide an additional threat in the middle when she has the opportunity to start working and connecting with our setters in the fall."
