Volleyball Signs Savanna Gonzales For 2015

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The GRU Augusta volleyball team announced that Savanna Gonzales from North Cobb High School in Kennesaw, Ga., will join the Jaguars for the 2015 season, after Head Coach Sharon Quarles signed the outside hitter in the early signing period.

Gonzales, a 6-1, right-handed outside hitter will graduate from North Cobb High School in Kennesaw, Ga., in May 2015. She helped lead North Cobb to a final four appearance her freshman and sophomore years and the elite eight her junior year. Gonzales ended her high school career by winning a 6A state championship title with the Lady Warriors. Her performance this year as a senior, earned her a nominee for Georgia's Gatorade Player of the Year.

Gonzales dominated Cobb County volleyball for the past three years. For her play in 2012, 2013, and 2014 – Gonzales was named to the All-Area, All-Cobb County, and All-Cobb County Tournament Teams. She earned first team All-State, Senior All-Star, MaxPreps/AVCA Player of the Week, Children's Healthcare Player of the Week, and Marietta Daily Journal's Player of the Year in her senior season.  Gonzales continues to play club ball with A5 Volleyball Club out of Alpharetta. Ga.

Off the court, Gonzales is a member of the National Honor Society, Magnet Program, AP Scholar Program and Relay for Life.
