Jags Open Season Friday At Queens Invitational

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The GRU Augusta women's volleyball team will kick off the 2014-15 season at the Queens Invitational tomorrow, Friday, Sept. 5 in Charlotte, N.C. 

The Jaguars will be joined by fellow Peach Belt Conference participants Montevallo and Armstrong, while host Queens also welcomes Catawba College, Lenoir-Rhyne, Limestone, and Sioux Falls for the two day event.

On Friday, GRU Augusta will open the tournament with Lenoir-Rhyne at 10:30 a.m. and meet Limestone at 3:00 p.m. The Jags conclude play on Saturday, Sept. 6 when they face Catawba at 10:30 a.m. and Queens at 3:00 p.m. to complete their first games and road-stint of the new season.

Last year the Jaguars faced Limestone at home on Oct. 1 and won 3-0 behind Kristen Koch's 17 kills. The team posted a .184 hitting-percentage against the Saints to win in straight sets. With five new signees to join a strong returning cast, head coach Sharon Quarles and the team are ready for competition.
