Jaguars Fall To Francis Marion, 3-0

AUGUSTA, Ga. – GRU Augusta dropped a Peach Belt Conference match 3-0 to Francis Marion on Saturday afternoon in Christenberry Fieldhouse for Senior Day 2013.

The Patriots started on a 4-0 run in set one with Paige Perreault on serve. Jags junior Kristen Koch got GRU on the board with a kill which led to five-consecutive points. Senior Jenna Keeler enjoyed the first block of the day to keep the Jags within one of FMU, but constant attacks from the left side gave the Pats a 25-14 set-one victory.

Down in set two, the Jags tied it at 4-all and took the lead on a Paige Tuttle kill. It wasn't enough as FMU jumped to 15-8 and held on for a 25-18 set and a 2-0 lead in the match. The Pats didn't play with the Jags in the third and final set as they started on a 5-0 run and stayed ahead for a 25-16 third set.

FMU outhit the Jags .253 to .107 and had 10 blocks to GRU's four. Jenna Keeler, the lone veteran for senior night, had a team-high nine kills and .467 in the match. McKenna Heath had 18 assists to pace GRU and Maggie Darling had a team-high nine digs. For the Pats, it was Emily Sears' 10 kills, Kailey Smith's 23 assists and Rebekah Davis' 10 digs that paced the offense.

The Jaguars travel to Georgia College on Wednesday, Nov. 13 for their last PBC match of the year at 7:00 p.m. in Centennial Center.
