Jags Miss at Montevallo

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Jaguar Volleyball program dropped a Peach Belt Conference match against the Montevallo Falcons 3-1 on Friday night in the Trustmark Arena.

GRU Augusta (6-16, 1-10 PBC) went down by two sets to start the night on the road. In a decisive set three, the Jags fell behind 1-0, but rallied four consecutive points to control the set. Junior Kristen Koch willed the offense in set three and for the night – recording a team-high 14 kills.

The Falcons (14-6, 7-3) finished off the Jags in set four, winning 25-17 to finish with an overall .275 hitting percentage to GRU's .146. UM's Rebekah Phelps led the night with 15 kills and Manyi Ati posted 14. Briana Marquez had 35 assists and Kaleigh Harvey had 18 digs.

Junior Maggie Darling knocked eight kills overall and junior Chandler Mass had a match-high 45 digs. Freshman Catherine DeSilvester dug eight shots, junior Paige Tuttle blocked three attacks and Darling got in on four.

The Jags keep it in the PBC tomorrow, Oct. 19 playing at Columbus State for a 2:00 p.m. serve.
