FLORENCE, S.C. – GRU Augusta slipped to 2-12 and 0-7 in the Peach Belt Conference with a 3-0 loss to Francis Marion on Friday, Oct. 4 at the Smith University Center.

Coming off a win 3-0 win over Limestone, the Jaguars could not conjure their offensive prowess they found in their last shutout win over the Saints on Tuesday, Oct. 1. The Jags were outhit by the league-leading Patriots (10-1, 5-0 PBC) .317 to .179 for the match and allowed 41 kills to their 32.

GRU Augusta recorded their best set of the night – hitting .214 and posting 18 points in set two, but 15 kills on three attack errors prevailed FMU in the second set and the match. Jags senior Jenna Keeler and junior Kristen Koch willed the team's offense with a team-leading eight kills apiece. Junior Chandler Mas gave 26 assists and junior Maggie Darling dug nine shots.

Junior Paige Tuttle held down the net for the Jags, getting in on all five of GRU's blocks, while Kailla Baptiste had four and Koch one. FMU's Emily Sears had a match-leading 13 kills, Kailey Smith notched 34 assists and Jessica Imbimbo had nine digs.

The Jags look for their first PBC win when they face UNC Pembroke tomorrow, Oct. 5 for a 12:00 p.m. match and play Elizabeth City State at 2:00 p.m. following the UNCP meeting.
