Jags Drop Two More At Pirate Classic

SAVANNAH, Ga. -- GRU Augusta dropped a pair of matches Saturday morning to the Shorter Hawks and the Lincoln Memorial Railsplitters in day two of the Pirate Classic in the Aquatic Recreation Center (ARC) on the campus of Armstrong Atlantic State.

Senior Jenna Keeler paced the Jags' offense in the opening match vs. Shorter, recording a team-leading 21 attacks with seven kills. Senior Jenna Keeler notched 19 attacks with four kills, while junior Kristen Koch tallied 18 attacks with six kills and 15 digs. Junior Maggie Darling contributed 15 digs in the loss.

Match two saw GRU Augusta face the LMU Railsplitters. Koch and Keeler brought the offense prowess with Koch bringing in 41 attacks with 14 kills and 14 digs and Keeler booking 29 attacks with four kills. Keeler and junior Paige Tuttle combined for five block assists, but not enough to overturn LMU.

The Jags open Peach Belt Conference play and hold their first home matches on Sept. 13-14 in Christenberry Fieldhouse with Columbus State and Montevallo.
