AUGUSTA, Ga. – Senior Jenna Keeler of the GRU Augusta Volleyball Program has been selected to the 2013 Peach Belt Conference preseason All-Conference team, according to a release from the league office Tuesday afternoon.
Eight players were placed on the team with six hitters/blockers, a setter and a libero representing six PBC schools. Armstrong Atlantic State and Flagler were the only two schools with two players on the team. The squad was selected by the league's head coaches who were not permitted to rank their own players.
Pacing the Jags last season in points, attacks, kills, and blocks, Keeler the lone Jaguar on the preseason list, was named second-team All-Conference in 2012 during the PBC's Volleyball Championships annual awards banquet. From Plantation, Fla., she led the team last year and was ranked eighth in the conference with 339 total kills and 2.76 kills per set. Keeler was also ranked in the PBC's top 10 in total blocks and blocks per set last season and also ranked 12th in the league in hitting percentage, sporting a .257 clip.
Keeler tallied 18 matches of double-digit kills, including a season-high 27 kills vs. Queens on Oct. 19. She turned in four of the top seven kill totals by any player last year. GRU Augusta opens play in the Armstrong Classic against Erskine on Sept. 6 and has their first home test and conference game on Sept. 13 against Columbus State.
