GRU Augusta Reveals 2013 Agenda

AUGUSTA, Ga. – GRU Augusta Head Volleyball Coach Sharon Bonaventure signed off on the 2013 schedule Friday afternoon, which features 13 games at home in Christenberry Fieldhouse and 20 on the road.

"The schedule right from the start is going to challenge our Jaguar squad, which is a good thing," Bonaventure said.  "With Columbus State and Georgia College adding volleyball to expand our conference, I think it is going to create some exciting moments this season. Outside of conference play, we have eight regional matches scheduled which will aid in more opportunities when it comes to regional ranking time. "

GRU Augusta begins the new season at the Armstrong Classic in Savannah, Ga., from Sept. 6-7 before Peach Belt Conference action starts Sept. 13 at home with Columbus State. GRU Augusta hosts its first tournament, the GRU Augusta Tri-Match Sept 14, with Montevallo and Pfeiffer and head to back to Armstrong to face the Pirates in the Alumni Arena at Armstrong Sports Center.

This past season, the Jaguars finished eighth in the region poll and look to push further by facing new competition in the Palm Beach Atlantic Tournament in West Palm Beach, Fla., from Oct. 11-12. The Jags will see out of state competition with Stonehill (Mass.), Claflin, and Palm Beach Atlantic, before PBC play resumes on Oct. 15 with Georgia College in Augusta.

The GC match kicks off five consecutive conference matches, before the Jags face Converse, Newberry, and Queens to begin November, the final month of play. On Nov. 16 the Jags wrap up the regular season at Anderson before the PBC Championships commence from Nov.22-24 in Florence, S.C. at Francis Marion.
