Foster Signs With Jaguars

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Augusta State head volleyball coach Sharon Bonaventure announced Friday the signing of Chelsea Foster to a national letter-of-intent. Foster is the second signee of the Spring, 2011 signing period, which began April 13.

A 5-5 defensive specialist and libero from Alpharetta, Ga., Foster prepped at Centennial High School in Roswell, Ga., She ranked No. 32 in the state in assists and currently plays for GA5 club team in Atlanta. Named a scholar-athlete each of the last four years, Foster is a member of the National Spanish Honor Society and the National Technical Honor Society.

"Chelsea is a very focused and determined young athlete and she plays the game with a passion," Bonaventure said. "She'll provide us with a spark and will definitely contribute on the defensive side of the ball for us."

ASU wrapped up its second season under the direction of Bonaventure on Nov. 12, 2010 with an appearance in the Peach Belt Conference Tournament. The Jags posted a record of 11-22 in 2010, one year after registering the second-most victories in a single season (22) in their first season under Bonaventure.
