Tusculum Too Much For ASU

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Tusculum registered a 3-0 non-conference victory over Augusta State on Senior Day Saturday afternoon in Christenberry Fieldhouse.

The contest marked the end of the Jaguars' regular-season schedule and was also the final home appearance for the senior trio of Tarah Childress, Chase Lowther and Dianna Meyer.

ASU junior Jessica Hanson posted a team-best 10 kills and freshman setter Lisa Bartsch netted 27 assists. Junior Lagi Roberts and freshman Andria Tagarelli booked 11 digs each and Bartsch added 10 digs.

Allyson Ray paced the Pioneers with a match-high 12 kills, while Ashley Sarmiento was credited with 31 assists. Caitlyn Dean turned in 26 digs and Melanie Gibson and Bailee Price chipped in 10 each.

Tusculum managed a .246 hitting percentage as a team and combined for seven blocks, while the Jags hit just .033.

The Pioneers, who entered the match ranked No. 3 in the latest NCAA Southeast Region poll, improved to 23-5 on the season while ASU slipped to 11-21 overall.

The Jags open Peach Belt Conference Tournament play next weekend in Savannah, Ga., on the campus of Armstrong Atlantic State.
