Patriots Top ASU, 3-0

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Francis Marion rallied for a 27-25 victory in the first set and went on to post a 3-0 Peach Belt Conference win over Augusta State Wednesday night in Christenberry Fieldhouse. The contest wrapped up a six-match homestand for the Jaguars.

With the victory, the Patriots improved to 11-7 overall and 3-4 in the PBC while the Jags slipped to 6-12 and 2-6, respectively.

Sophomore Mandy Irizarry booked a team-best 13 kills for the Jaguars, who managed just a .097 hitting percentage. Junior Jessica Hanson added 10 kills and freshman setter Lisa Bartsch notched 35 assists. Junior Lagi Roberts notched 12 digs and senior Chase Lowther had 10 digs.

Mallory Eggert recorded 12 kills for FMU and Nicole Bennett registered 39 assists. Ashlee Crook netted a match-high 16 digs and Kelsie Deaton chipped in 12 digs. The Patriots posted a .257 hitting percentage and seven blocks.

The Jags travel to Winter Park, Fla., this weekend for three matches against Merrimack, Florida Tech and Rollins. ASU takes on Merrimack on Saturday, Oct. 9 at 6:00 p.m., and faces Florida Tech and Rollins on Sunday at 12:00 p.m., and 2:00 p.m.

ASU returns home to host Clark-Atlanta on Wednesday, Oct. 13 at 7:30 p.m., in Christenberry Fieldhouse.
