SAVANNAH, Ga. -
Augusta State lost a pair of non-conference matches Saturday on the
second day of the AASU Volleyball Pirate Classic on the campus of
Armstrong Atlantic State University.
The Jaguars fell 3-2 (18-25, 25-23, 22-25, 25-23, 11-15) in a
close match to Florida Southern to start the day off Saturday.
Freshman setter Lisa
Bartsch tallied 30 assists. Sophomore Mandy
Irizarry and freshman middle blocker Karolina
Stenlund each had 12 kills. Freshman libero Andria
Tagarelli netted 20 digs and had two aces. Sophomore Meredith
Berce and senior Chase
Lowther each landed 13 digs.
ASU then fell to Alabama-Huntsville, dropping a 3-0 decision
(18-25, 23-25, 12-25). Bartsch registered 21 assists. Stenlund and
sophomore Lagi
Roberts each posted seven kills, while Roberts tallied seven
digs. Tagarelli netted 20 digs while Lowther had nine digs.
The Jags (2-6) return to action next Wednesday, Sept. 15, opening
up their Peach Belt Conference at UNC Pembroke at 7:00 p.m.
