AUGUSTA, Ga. -
Augusta State head coach Sharon Bonaventure announced Wednesday the
finalization of her schedule for the 2010 season.
The Jaguars return four starters and eight letterwinners from
their 2009 squad that racked up 22 victories -- the second-most in
school history -- and registered the second-best turnaround in a
single season in the 25-year history of the program.
ASU, entering its second season under Bonaventure, will kick off
the 2010 campaign on Saturday, Sept. 3 on the road at the Anderson
Tournament in Anderson, S.C. The Jags will also face off against
Lincoln Memorial and the host Trojans before wrapping up tourney
play with Newberry.
A week later, the Jags travel to Savannah, Ga., to compete in the
Chatham Orthopedics Classic on the campus of Armstrong Atlantic
State. ASU takes on North Alabama and Florida Tech on Friday, Sept.
10 and battles Florida Southern and Alabama-Huntsville on Sept.
11.
The Jags, who open Peach Belt Conference play on Wednesday, Sept.
15 at UNC Pembroke, actually play their first 12 matches on the
road before making their home debut against Flagler on Friday,
Sept. 24 at 7:00 p.m., in Christenberry Fieldhouse.
In all, ASU plays a 12-match home schedule highlighted by a
Wednesday, Sept. 29 showdown with rival USC Aiken in Christenberry
Fieldhouse.
The Jags host Senior Day on Saturday, Nov. 6 at 1:00 p.m., against
non-conference foe Tusculum.
