DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Augusta University men's and women's outdoor track & field teams head to Daytona Beach, Fla., April 18-20, for the 2019 Peach Belt Conference Championships. For the first time, the event moves to one of the league's associate members as Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University will serve as host and defend their men's and women's titles from 2018. The competition begins on Thursday morning with men's and women's multi events followed by field finals in the early afternoon and track events at 6:00 pm.

The Augusta women's squad has competed in four regular-season meets prior to the 2019 conference finals and are coming off back-to-back top-five finishes. AU started the year with a sixth-place finish at the Victor Icebreaker Duals, hosted by Berry College in Rome, Ga., on March 2. The Jaguars followed it up with 17th at the Emory Invitational, before carding fourth at the Adidas Trojan Challenge in Mount Olive, N.C. on March 30 and third at the Peach Belt / Gulf South Crossover on April 6 in Huntsville, Ala. Augusta sophomore Micah Weathers holds the top time in both the 1500 and 5k and her 5k time is over 30 seconds better than any other run in the league this year.

The Jaguar men also competed in four regular-season meets leading up to the PBC Championships and have a pair or runner-up finishes. AU took second to start the season at the Victor Icebreaker Duals and placed second at the Adidas Trojan Challenge. Last time out, the Jags earned sixth at the PBC / Gulf South Crossover. AU sophomore Sean McCreary has the second-fastest time in the 100 meter dash this season with a time of 10.71 at the Adidas Trojan Challenge.

Augusta Track & Field is competing at the PBC Championships for seventh time in program history. The Augusta men have finished top five three times and finished fourth in 2015 and 2017 for their best finishes ever. The Jaguar women posted their best finish ever at the conference meet last season in 2018 when they placed fifth overall.
