Augusta Snags 17th Of 30 At Emory Invitational

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Augusta University women's outdoor track & field team traveled to Atlanta, Ga. this weekend to compete in this year's Emory Invitational, hosted by Emory University. Augusta took 17th out of 30 teams with 20 points. Emory won the meet with 114 points. They were followed by Clayton State in second (70 points) and West Georgia in third (60 points).

 

The Jaguars got a top finish from Alyisha Anderson who took fourth overall in the triple jump with a leap of 10.89m. Augusta also got a sixth-place finish from Kiana Smith in the javelin throw with a toss of 32.61m. At shot put, Jags junior Ashley Leonard took seventh with a throw of 11.40m. Also in the field, freshman Chanice Campbell recorded an 11th place finish with a toss of 33.65m in the discus throw.

 

Senior Macy Hayes led the Jaguars with a third place finish in the high jump with a leap of 1.60m. She was followed by freshman Trinity Cooks in sixth (1.55m) and Kiana Smith in ninth (1.50m).

 

The Jaguars rounded out the meet with an eighth-place showing in the 4x400 relay. Together, the team of seniors Sarah Hossack and Mitchell Morgan, and freshmen Skylar Ackerman and Jayla Ferris, ran for a cumulative time of 4:08.49

 

The Jaguars will compete next weekend, March 29-30, where they will travel to Mount Olive, N.C. for the Trojan Challenge.
