Jags Finish Sixth At Victor Icebreaker Duals To Start 2019

ROME, Ga. – The Augusta University women outdoor track and field team finished the Victor Icebreaker Duals in sixth place with a final total of 88 points in Rome, Ga., for their first meet of the 2019 season.

 

Augusta senior Macy Hayes placed first in the high jump clearing - 1.61 meters in the finals to beat senior Alicia McClellan of Shorter College by .05 meters.

 

Augusta sophomore Micah Weathers and junior Mckenzie Knudsen finished second and third in the Women's 5000-meter run, finishing in 17:52.33 and 18:34.41 respectively. Jaguar juniors Rachael Hammesfahr and Helen Rendich took sixth and seventh in the 3000-meter steeplechase to finish in 12:43.91 and 13:06.14 respectively.

 

The Jaguars placed fourth in the 4x400 meter relay with senior Sarah Hossack, sophomore Miranda Taylor, freshman Skylar Ackerman, and freshman Jayla Ferris finishing together in 3:25.44.

 

Senior JaNae Marzell finished fourth in the discus throw with a final distance of 33.64 meters; 3.11 meters behind winner Genesis Leggett of Berry College. Senior Mallory Howard grabbed fourth in the hammer throw with a final throw of 38.51 meters.

 

Augusta heads to Atlanta, Ga., for the Emory Invitational March 22-23 at Emory University.
