Ward Welcomes Two New Signees For AU Cross Country, Track & Field

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta University head cross country and track & field coach Adam Ward announced the signing of Jaelan Alexander and Kareena Gladis to compete for the Jaguars next season. The duo will race in the 2019 cross country season and the 2020 outdoor track & field season.

Year: Freshman

Height: 5-6

Hometown / Previous School: Cleveland, Ga. / White County High School

 

HIGH SCHOOL: Attended White County High School for all four years and plans to graduate in May 2019 … Lettered in cross country and track & field under coaches Sam Borg, Matt Dover, and Jake Cantrell … Also lettered in soccer for two years … 2017 800 meter State Champion … 3x cross country state podium recipient … 4x track and field state podium recipient … 5K PR: 18:40 … 800m PR: 2:17 … Team finished third at the 2018 and 2017 state championships for the 4x400m … Third overall at the 2016 state championships … Top-five percent of 2019 class … Scholar-Athlete all four years … National Society of High School Scholars.

 

PERSONAL: Born in Gainesville, Ga., on Jan. 17, 2001 … Daughter to Shawn and Diedre Alexander and sister to Thomas and Leah Alexander … Plans on studying kinesiology at AU.

HIGH SCHOOL: Attended Leesburg High School in Leesburg, Fla., for all four years and plans on graduating in May 2019 … Coached by Former Jaguar standout Dustin Ross … Made varsity as a freshman and appeared at the state championship for cross country and track and field … Team captain as a senior and junior … District and regional champ in the 1600 meter in 2018 … Holds the school record at LHS for the 1600m … Back-to-back runner-up finishes in the district 5K as a senior and junior … Led team to their first regional appearance.

 

PERSONAL: Born in Florida on April 13, 2001 … Daughter to John and Marlene Gladis and sister to Alex Gladis … Plans to pursue a degree in kinesiology at AU with a focus on physical therapy.
