Augusta Track & Field Starts 2018 At Savannah State Eyeopener

SAVANNAH, Ga. – It's race week for the Augusta University women's and men's outdoor track and field teams and the Jaguars open the new 2018 season Saturday, Feb. 24 at the Savannah State Eyeopener, hosted by Savannah State, at Ted Wright Stadium.

"This spring we are hoping to continue the momentum from last spring and this past fall," head coach Adam Ward said. "Last track season and this past cross country season were great for our programs. This schedule should prepare us well for the type of competition we will face later at conference and trying to qualify for the NCAAs later in May."

 

Women's Track Last Season In 2017 …

  • Finished top five in three events & took sixth at PBC Championships
  • Four Jags named Peach Belt All-Conference
  • Set seven new school records
  • Four Jaguars named PBC All-Academic
  • Competed in five regular-season meets and PBC Championships

 

Men's Track Last Season In 2017 …

  • Placed in the top five in every meet on the season
  • Matched their highest finish at PBC Finals w/ fourth overall
  • Eight Jags named Peach Belt All-Conference
  • Team set nine new school records
  • Competed in five regular-season meets and PBC Championships
