ROME, Ga. – The Augusta University's women's outdoor track and field team traveled to Mount Berry, Ga. Saturday, Feb. 3 to compete in the Victor Icebreaker Duals, hosted by Berry College, in the second meet of the season. The Jaguars took seventh out of 17 teams with 55 points.
Shorter finished first on the leaderboard with a total of 141.5 points, followed by Lee (140.5) and West Georgia (93.5), in second and third, respectively.
The meet was one for the record books as the Augusta women managed to break three school records. Senior Lara Way won her second event of the season, taking the title in the 5000-meter run and breaking the school record with a time of 17:49.05.
Junior Macy Hayes set the new record for the high jump with a height of 1.62 meters, taking second place in the process.
To round out the trio of new records, Freshman Alyisha Anderson set the new triple jump record at 10.97 meters, finishing fourth in the event.
The 4x400 meter relay team of Sarah Hossack, Susan Obi, Morgan Mitchell, and Lara Way finished in third with a time 4:11.29.
Other top-five finishes include: Sophomore JaNae Marzell (hammer throw, fifth), freshman Micah Weathers (5000-meter run, fifth), junior Sarach Hossack (400-meter dash, fifth), and sophomore Rachel Hammesfahr (3000-meter steeplechase, fifth).
The women will compete next March 16-17 at the Braves Classic, hosted by UNC Pembroke, at Pembroke, N.C.
