PBC Announces 2015-16 Championship Dates & Sites

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Peach Belt Conference has announced the final dates and sites for all 15 PBC Championship Tournaments for the upcoming 2015-16 season.   The 15 titles will be decided at nine events with cross country, basketball, soccer, tennis, golf and track & field awarding both men's and women's titles at the same time.  The PBC Athletic Directors' Council at their summer meeting finalized the dates and sites.

Cross Country

The 2015 PBC men's and women's cross country championships will be hosted by the University of North Georgia for the first time.  The event will take place on Saturday, Oct. 24, at the UNG Gainesville campus.  Every PBC men's and women's team will compete with the women starting at 9:00 am and the men following at 9:45. 

Soccer

The PBC men's and women's soccer championships return to Blanchard Woods Park in Evans, Ga., for the eighth straight year.  The top eight men's and women's teams in the PBC standings advance to tournament play with the first round of games on Tuesday, Nov. 3.  Those games will be hosted by the higher seed with the final four men's and women's teams advancing to Blanchard Woods.  The semifinals will be held on Friday, Nov. 6, with the championship games on Sunday, Nov. 8.  All games at Blanchard Woods will be played on the stadium field.

Volleyball

The 2015 PBC Volleyball Championship will begin on Tuesday, Nov. 17.  The top eight teams advance with the top four hosting the first-round games.   The remaining four teams will play the semifinals and finals Nov. 20 and 21 at the site of the highest remaining seed.

Basketball

The 2015 PBC Basketball Championships showcased a new format that brought the tournament finals to the highest remaining men's east seed following quarterfinal play.  That format remains in place, however the highest remaining women's seed in the west will host the final four in 2016.  For both men and women, the top eight advance to tournament play with quarterfinal games at the highest seed on Saturday, Feb. 27.  The final four will play the next Saturday, March 5, with the championship games on March 6.

Golf

The 2016 PBC men's and women's golf championships will be held at the World Golf Village in St. Augustine, Fla.  The teams will play three 18-hole rounds on the Slammer & Squire course April 15, 16 and 17.  All PBC teams will compete in the championship.

Track & Field

The 2016 PBC Track & Field Championships will be moving to Pembroke, N.C., and hosted for the first time by UNC Pembroke.  Every PBC track & field team along with the league's associate members will begin the championships on Thursday, April 21, and conclude on Saturday, April 23.

Softball

Georgia College will host the 2016 PBC Softball Championships for the second straight year.  The top eight teams in the PBC standings will travel to Milledgeville for the single-elimination event, which begins on Friday, April 22, and finishes on Saturday, April 23.  The tournament can extend into Sunday if necessary due to wearther.

Men's and Women's Tennis

The 2016 PBC men's and women's tennis tournament will return to Florence, S.C., and the Dr. Eddie Floyd Florence Tennis Center for a fourth straight year.  Francis Marion will serve as host once again as the top eight men's and women's teams will compete for the title starting on Friday, April 22.  The championship matches will be held on Sunday the 24th.  The tournament will once again feature a main draw and backdraw matches.

Baseball 

With the final exam schedule allowing more flexibility in 2016, the PBC Baseball Championship will expand to a five-day event May 11-15.  The tournament will be held in Florence, S.C., at Clifford S. Cormell Field at Sparrow Stadium on the campus of Francis Marion University.  The tournament format will be brand-new with as the top eight teams in the standings will be split into two four-team pools.  Each team will get three games at the tournament over four days with the top team in each pool meeting in a single championship game on Sunday, May 15.
