Women’s Track 11th At Emory Out Of 28

ATLANTA, Ga.  – After Friday's full day of competition, the Jaguars sat seventh out of 26 teams at the Emory Invitational and ended in 11th in the 28-team field on Saturday March 21 in Atlanta, Ga.

FULL RESULTS

GRU got a big performance from one of their best distance runners in Jordan Humphrey. Humphrey blazed the 10000 meter run and placed second with a time of 38:49.52. It is a new GRU school record.

Teammate Angelica Clayton shined in the women's 100m to win the event overall and set a new school record in 12.01.

Continuing the field events on Friday, GRU's Sabiyah Broderick finished just outside the top 10 in the women's javelin throw with a toss of 30.15m to finish 11th.

Heather Hammett continued to impress on the hurdles and placed fifth out of 30 with a 1:06.24 final time. Jags duo Morgan Ryffe and Tia Ponsell, also teammates for GRU cross country, each nabbed top-10 finishes in the 3000 meter steeplechase. Ryffe finished sixth and Ponsell ninth to pace the Jags.

Ponsell won her heat and took ninth in 12:11.44 – her new PR for the Jaguars, while Ryffe also posted her personal best in 12:00.14.

JaVoni Canty, coming off her Peach Belt Track Athlete of the Week award, took seventh out of 42 in the women's hammer throw on Friday. Lucyhelena Somarriba carded 30th with a javelin throw distancing 19.26m.

Jordan Humphrey - women's 10000m school record 38:49.52 (2nd place overall)

Morgan Ryffe - women's 3000m steeple school record 12:00.14 (6th place overall)

Tia Ponsell - won her heat of the women's steeple and finished 9th overall (12:11.44)

Women's 4x100 teams (48.68/4th place)

Angelica Clayton - women's 100m school record 12.01 (1st overall)

Adanna Thompson - women's triple jump 34'7.75"
